Artist Q&A with CORPUS Dance Projects

Toronto's CORPUS Dance Projects will be participating In the Park with Camping Royale. We asked choreographer David Danzon a few question about their upcoming performance and this is what he had to share with us.

GD: The theme of the 2019 GDF is “What Moves You” can you share with us what moved you when working in the creation of Camping Royale?
DD: Unpredictable or unlikely movement moves me. In particular the movement of inanimate objects. In this case, a tent transformed as a baroque royal dress.

GD: What is it that you love the most about performing outdoors?
DD: I find that the unpredictability of performing outdoors, battling the elements, having to retain the attention of a sometimes fleeting crowd, competing against the natural soundscape (dogs, car horns, etc..), is most challenging and ultimately satisfying. Of course, the concept of Camping Royale works best outdoors...

GD: Is there anything else you would like to share with Guelph audiences before your performance?
DD: Very happy to share this very theatrical work in the context of the festival.
